The Need

The programs run by St. Stephen's Youth Programs are extremely cost-effective.  However, because we serve more than 600
children and teens each year, expenses do eventually add up. Our annual budget is currently about $750,000 per year.  As a
program that serves the poor, we have limited sources of revenue beyond modest family tuitions and rely on diocesan and
parish support, foundation grants, and individual gifts to keep our after-school and summer programs open each year.

St. Stephen's Youth Programs remains a small organization, and all gifts work hard to directly support the children and teens
we serve.  Gifts of any amount are sincerely appreciated and truly make a difference.

    How To Donate

If you have any questions about financial giving or in-kind donations, please contact Pam Mathews, Development Director, at
    (617) 797-6688 or pam@mathewshome.net.

Donate by mail:  Checks may be made out to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church with "Youth Programs" in the memo line.  Or,
if you would like to give directly to the Youth Programs independent 501c3 (necessary for most corporate matching gifts
programs), checks should be made to out to "Friends of St. Stephen's Youth Programs."  Our address is 419 Shawmut
    Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.

Donate online:  You may make a credit card donation at the Community Room website, a secure, online donation service
provided by our bank.  Simply click on this link:  www.communityroom.net/donate and use the scroll down menu to select
Friends of St. Stephen's Youth Programs (don't forget "The Friends of" part!)  Funds will be deposited directly into our account.

Important note:  At the current time, online donations may only be made from a PC (no Macs) and using an Internet Explorer
Browser (no Firefox, Netscape, etc.)  We apologize for these limitations.

Donate gifts of stock or arrange a matching gift:  For information, please contact Pam Mathews at the phone number or e-
    mail shown above.

In-kind donations of gently used items:  While we greatly appreciate all offers of in-kind donations, St. Stephen's is limited
both in terms of storage space and manpower for sorting and distributing donated items.  It is very helpful if you call first to
discuss your donation (please contact Pam Mathews at the phone number or e-mail shown above.)

Here are some items that can be typically put to good use:
  • After-School Programs:  There are ongoing needs for gently-used books (especially early reader books), school and
craft supplies, and winter jackets, hats, and mittens.
  • Facilities:  Periodically, the Youth Programs or church can put other items (such as gently-used computers, office
furniture, and office and kitchen supplies) to good use.

In-kind donations of goods and services:  Please contact Pam Mathews at (617) 797-6688 or pam@mathewshome.
    net to discuss donations of:
  • Free or low cost youth programming and/or materials:  Many of our volunteers and supporters have connections to
organizations that provide free or low cost enrichment programming and/or materials for youth programs like ours.  We
always love to hear about new opportunities and get connected with new organizations.
  • Staff "perks":  Our staff consists of mostly young adults who are working in the low-paying field of youth work.  If you
have extra tickets, etc. that will go unused, we would love to pass them along to reward some of our hard-working staff.
  • Wish list items:  Nothing at this time.  Periodically, we will post a wish list for new or gently used items here.

Thank you for supporting St. Stephen's Youth Programs!
